Susie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Piedmont International University and a Master’s in School Administration from Jacksonville State University. Susie’s extensive experience includes serving as a classroom teacher, department head, assistant principal, principal, and child care center director.
Susie’s educational philosophy is that all children are able to learn in a play-based, hands-on surrounding that challenges them to think and grow every day. A responsibility to model for children what it means to be a good citizen in order to prepare them for their future is a priority for Susie. Susie’s major goals as our center director are to ensure that each child in the CYC receives a quality education and a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment.
Susie grew up in a military family, where her Dad proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. During her childhood, she lived in several states, including Alabama, North Carolina, California, and Hawaii. Her family moved to Indiana when she was eight years old. Susie lived in Florida for 12 years, where she served as a school principal, and returned to Indiana to be near family in 2008. Susie calls the south side of Indianapolis home. She enjoys spending time with her sister and brother-in-law, nieces and nephews and their children, who live close by. Travel, reading, and music are three of her favorite leisure time activities, in addition to cheering for the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers!
